2026 planning guide · West Sussex

How much does a kitchen refurbishment cost?

The supplier’s cabinet price is only one part of a kitchen budget. The range stays deliberately broad because fitting-only work and a full room refurbishment are very different projects.

Indicative rangeBroadly £4,000–£60,000+

A prepared-room fitting package could fall at the lower end, while a complete refurbishment includes far more than installation alone.

How Sixes uses these figures

We publish a broad range because an honest early budget is more useful than a low headline figure that excludes essential work. These allowances combine the scope customers commonly ask us to consider with the practical variables we see when reviewing rooms, drawings and existing properties across West Sussex.

They are intended to answer one question before detailed design begins: is the outcome you want reasonably aligned with the budget available? If it is, photographs, approximate dimensions and a short description let us have a more productive first conversation.

Typical planning ranges

Fitting-only package

Around £4,000–£12,000

Customer-supplied kitchen in a suitable prepared room, depending on size and detail.

Complete refurbishment

Around £15,000–£35,000

Could include strip-out, preparation, typical trade work, kitchen and fit.

Large or premium project

Around £30,000–£60,000+

Layout changes, premium products, extensive services or building work can move it higher.

What changes the price?

  • Cabinetry, worktops and appliances
  • Electrical, plumbing and heating changes
  • Structural or layout alterations
  • Flooring, decoration and making good

What a useful quotation should make clear

Compare the written scope rather than the final number alone. Check who supplies each item, what preparation and making good are included, which assumptions rely on unseen conditions, how variations are agreed and whether VAT is included. For larger work, professional fees, statutory approvals and contingency should sit visibly beside the construction figure.

Important

Figures are broad, VAT-inclusive homeowner planning allowances where applicable—not quotations or offers. Site conditions, design, specification, access and third-party costs can materially change the total. A written quotation follows confirmed scope and measurement.

From guide to project

Compare the scope before you compare prices

The kitchen refurbishment service explains how layout, installation and finishes are scoped. See the Pagham kitchen project for a genuine example of Sixes work; its specification and cost should not be assumed for another property.
